Scribe uses Discord accounts to identify users. Currently only the scribe subscriber can interact with scribe. This is because, once beta ends, many of scribes actions consume paid credits. In the future some commands may be available to all users.
Getting started
Next start your first book using the /scribe-add-book command in your discord server. Each session is transcribed into a book. A book may only listen to one discord voice channel at a time. When your session is over run the /scribe-stop-listening command to end the listening session.
Adding characters
To add a character to a book use the /scribe-add-character command. You can assign a discord user to a character by selecting them as an option when running the command. This lets scribe know who is talking and helps him do a much better job attributing dialog to the correct character. You may need to begin typing their discord username for them to appear in the list of options.
To list the characters in a book use the /scribe-list-characters command. You can update characters with /scribe-update-character and /scribe-delete-character.
NOTE - If you use well known character names, the AI that summarizes the transcript may work unexpectedly and include information that was not in your game.
Assign dungeon master
To assign a dungeon master to a book use the /scribe-assign-dungeon-master command. This lets scribe know who is running the session and improves its ability to recognize NPC dialog and present lore and narrative. You may need to begin typing their discord username for them to appear in the list of options.
Adding scribe to a voice channel
Once your book is created, run the /scribe-listen command and pick the book and voice channel to transcribe. As story passages are completed they'll be posted to the channel the command was run in.
If you're taking a break or having a stretch of non game related conversation you can use /scribe-pause. While paused Scribe will ignore voice conversations. You can resume the session with /scribe-unpause.
Finishing a chapter
When your session is over run the /scribe-stop-listening command. This will end the current chapter of your book and summarize it. If you wish to end a chapter without ending a session you can run/scribe-end-chapter
Fixing mistakes
Various commands will link to the content their generating on the website. On the website you can fix any mistakes scribe made and regenerate the parts of the story that need improvement.
